This bowl is made from the Silver Maple tree. The chatoyancy of the grain in this piece is due to microscopic grain fibers which are densely packed and run in different directions due to stresses during the trees growth. This causes light to reflect at different angles thus creating "the shimmer effect". All pieces are made by me, in my woodshop in Louisville, Kentucky. The dimensions for the Maple bowl is 5 3\4'' in diameter, and 2 1\4'' deep.All pieces are made by me, in my woodshop in Louisville, Kentucky.
